Feed Me!

Your roses are actively growing now and they are hungry.  You can start with a liquid or water soluble fertilizer, e.g., Miracle-Grow 24-8-16, Neptune’s Harvest Fish/Seaweed, or Mill’s Magic Mix Easy Feed.  Roses do especially well when you combine an organically based fertilizer, such as Espoma’s Rose Tone or Mill’s Magic Mix, with a chemically based fertilizer, such as Osmocote, Rose Dynamite (available from Jackson & Perkins), Scott’s Rose & Bloom, or whatever is your favorite fertilizer.   Note it takes time for the soil microbes to break down these fertilizers into an ionic form that becomes water soluble and then is available to your rose roots.  Feed’em and watch them bloom like crazy.
