Rose leaves are starting to grow. Spring arrives officially on March 20th, the forsythia is starting to bloom. It’s time to prune your roses. If you have established hybrid teas, prune them down approximately 1/3 down from the top, e.g., if the bush is 6 foot tall, prune it down to 4 feet. Open up the center so sunlight and breezes can flow through the bush. Remove old and diseased leaves to prevent an early out break of black spot. Shrubs and other roses can be pruned to a height you desire, think about how tall you want the bush to grow to. The more leaves a rose bush has, the more energy it can store and the more potential blooms you will enjoy.
